Anyone know if it is possible to purchase plain, black sun visors without mirrors and lights? Minus the safety decals would be a bonus as well.
Thanks.
If you've got some time, you can recover them yourself with high quality vinyl. I'm worse off than you- I have the Anniversary Edition with the shale colored interior, and my visors were all deteriorated, and the mirror hinges were broken. I recovered them in vinyl, left out the mirrors and added a HomeLink garage door transmitter to the driver's side. There are DIY write-ups on this site to get you headed in the right direction. (I think the an
swer to your question is that there are no vendors selling what you're looking for)
Thanks.
I happen to have a wife who is talented with a sewing machine. A good option.
LOL! That was the only part of the job that I had to get help on! You can buy 1/2 yard of black vinyl fabric at JoAnn's or a similar fabric shop and have enough to make your sun visors and have some left over for other projects. On the passenger side I cut a piece of vinyl to give me a sort of 'pocket' to put parking tickets and other papers into. It's simply wrapped around the sun visor and fastened with velcro- removable at any time.
I never used the mirrors, and they were broken at the hinge, anyway, so I don't miss them.

Thanks! I was giving some thought to putting some non-Corvette vanity mirrors in the visors, but it would have been a lot of work. To get my Homelink transmitter, I bought a pair of visors from a Mercedes and a Volvo. Both had nice (better than Corvette) mirrors, but I didn't feel like doing the extra work (of adapting them to the Corvette) for the minimal benefit. When I had a C4, I took black sunvisors out of a Chrysler Sebring Convertible and was able to transfer them directly to my '93 convertible. C4s also had sketchy sun visors, and my car had none when I bought it. I got them at the same pick-a-part place that I got my newer Mercedes and Volvo sun visors ($10/pair, including homelink).
Here are the C4 (Chrysler Sebring) sun visors, installed. This was my C5 inspiration! (The C4 was easy, because there was only the pivot point to contend with. On the C5, you have the outboard pivot and an inboard 'clip.' That's what prevents you from simply installing some other sunvisor into that space. All cars a re a little different that way). I think the Sebring sun visors are made much better than GM's sun visors!
