Default Thinking about selling my Z06

Bought a 1 owner 2003 Z06 about a year and a half ago with 15,800 miles on it. Completely stock except for C7 rims, black inside and out, garage queen. It’s still as clean underneath as it is on the outside, awesome car. Now it has 26,000 miles - still garage kept and very clean. Got the performance bug and want more power (not that I can handle this one) so I was thinking about looking for a C6 Z07 and selling mine. I love everything about this car and figure a C6 would be this and more. I really enjoyed building this one and want to do another. Wondering what a reasonable price would be to ask for it - any ideas?

I installed the items below last year and had a dyno tune done by Lethal Performance in San Antonio.
MGW shifter
Borla long tube headers
Borla x-pipe
Borla ATAK cat back
Callaway Honker CAI
TSP Torquer V2 cam
CHE rocker trunnions
Rollmaster timing set
ATI Super damper
Chromoly push rods
TSP dual valve springs
Melling high pressure oil pump

NADA suggests clean retail price with that low mileage would be just over $17k. Investing in those performance mods, which would make some buyers avoid your car adds no value to the vehicle. Expect some Z06 owners to disagree.

Brett, spend a little time perusing the C5 classifieds here and you should get a good idea what to ask. Nice low-mileage C5Z's are in demand and bringing good money. Lots of people think Stock Sucks and prefer a modified car. I think your car will bring low to mid 20's.

KBB private party value for your car is currently over $23K. C5Z prices are on the rise. Something is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. If someone wants a clean stock vehicle, they can go find one. If someone wants a clean modified vehicle, they will pay more, considering the mods. I had someone recently offer me $25K for my car, and their logic was that my mods add no value. I told him I would gladly sell him my car for $25K, if he also paid for the OEM parts and professional labor to return it to stock condition. Needless to say, he passed.

Sorry you can’t put a book value on these car. When someone has that car sitting in front of them, they will judge the value and what they are willing to pay. To the OP. What would be the difference in HP from the way you have your car compared to the C6

I would list it for $24,000 and take ~$22,000.

Used car bubble + Vette season, it's pretty much the best time to move it.

LS7 is 505hp, 470 ft/lbs torque at the flywheel.
My LS6 is 430 WHP and 400 ft/lbs torque at the wheel
I believe 15% loss through the drivetrain on the LS7 should put both cars pretty equal in power.

More power in my car means high dollar mods and little gains unless I go forced induction which means I also start chasing drivetrain upgrades.
If I start with a C6 Z06, I have a car I can add exhaust, cam, heads and all that and not need to upgrade the drivetrain. My starting point is where my C5 is now. I’d guess it would be easy to hit 550-600 WHP and not worry much with drivetrain issues especially since I just street drive.
I also just really like the looks of the C6 and the idea of a 427 and I really enjoyed doing all the work on mine and want to do another. I love my C5, it’s a badass car, mean looking and sounding, lots of thumbs up and lots of middle fingers - people either love it or hate it.

I’ll be attending some local corvette club drives, local car shows here every week and get with the speed shop that did my dyno. I also work with hundreds of gearheads so I’m pretty sure it’ll go quick, just not sure where to start.

Wrong about LS6 vs LS7.

The power difference is night and day. Owned both.

My C5z cammed tuned with all other bolt ons would get left by my stock (but tuned) c6z.

The 1/4” extra stroke, wayyyy better heads and higher redline plus taller gears it pulls easily makes the c6z feel much faster.

Is there $40,000.00 worth of difference to you, as it's going to cost to move to a C7 Z06, not to me there's not.
Also there are on track heat issues with the C7 Z06 that GM to my understanding has not fully solved.

I would ballpark the mid to upper $20's. IMO, mod's are subjective, some people put value on them and others do not.

OP said he wants a C6 Z not a C7 Z

I would say mid 20s for your current car in this market.

I owned an '04 Z06 with mods similar to yours, (minus the cam) and wanted more power without going to a max effort build. The C6 is everything my C5 was, and much more. I went the ZR1 route, but Z06's are VERY easy to make huge power in, without it being a bucking/surging monster. Good luck. Doubt you'll regret it.
