Hello All,
I'm a new owner to a C5 (previous c4 owner). Picked up a 2000 last fall for a good price. I would call it neglected, but not abused. First project is a new radiator because the plastic stocker was cracked. I have the new 4 core aluminum in place. So I thought, since these beasts like their cooling, I'd just go ahead and do the thermostat with the ported housing and all new hoses as well. The silicone hoses seemed worth the money. One question for you "experts" (easy to answer I'm sure). Where does this little guy fit in?

Are silicon hoses better? Do they have any pitfalls?
Yes, silicon hoses are better. They last longer, and don't get brittle over time like rubber. It's not really worth swapping your rubber hoses for silicon if there's nothing currently wrong with your hoses. However, if you need to replace your hoses (or you're messing with them because you swapped out the radiator), silicon is a better option.
I love the silicon ones myself too. But when I changed out my radiator for an aluminum one I couldn't get the bottom hose to seal for some reason. I put a brand new rubber ones on and it's been fine so far. I'm going to be putting my Dewitts radiator in sometime soon and I'll try it again and see what happens though.
