Default New tire option

Been dreading the new tire search, but the time has come. Since it's nearly impossible to find the stock sizes of 265/40/17 and 295/35/18, I started looking for 275s in front. Looks like Toyo is making a new Sport A/S tire in those sizes. Based on specs (and the little info I can find on them), they seem like they'd be just too tame. But I thought I'd check to see if anyone had any thoughts or experience on/with these. Looks like the regular Proxes Sport would be perfect, but of course they don't make a size anywhere near 265/275.

Why not go with a 255/295 combo? Quite a few manufacturers offer that combo, in the same tire. Going that route, a 255/40/17 @ 25" tall and a 295/35/18 @ 26.1" will have basically the same height sidewalls.

265/40/17's are obviously an oddball sizing and no one wants to offer it, anymore. Write that size off and move on.

I have been running a now-extinct extreme performance all season from Bridgestone and cannot get replacements. These being on my daily 99 which is just 343rw. They have been excellent in the wet and fairly safe in the snow.

These new Toyos may fit the bill as a replacement. 285 and 295 in 35r18. Not a bad option for a square setup.

Goodyear still makes factory sizes if you are willing to pay nearly $400 per tire.
My tires were old buy like new tread, and I replaced them with Bridgestone Potenza 255 and 285.
I went one size down front and back.

I have been running them on my 19s since December. I drive my car year round and have been waiting for a performance all season in the weird sizes I use. I have had no issues at all.

EDIT:

Here are a couple of photos from right after I washed the car the day I got them:

What sizes did you go with on the Toyos? Doesn't seem like they have much available in 17/18.

They are HRE 595R. Being that HRE doesn't make them anymore, you'd have to find them used.

19 x 9.5 ET 59 w/ 1.5" outer lip
19 x 11 ET 48 w/ 3" outer lip

yes, my car is lowered on the stock bolts.
