One of the front shocks on my 2003 Corvette was completely worn out. When my tech called his supplier (Delco distributor) he was told they were $800! He advised me and I told him to proceed. When he placed the order he was amazed to learn they are $800 EACH! He was unable to find any in the aftermarket. They are genuine Delco. Yes, it does ride and handle much better, but $1600?? I just had to vent!
Sorry Man.. What a bummer!... Poor design on those shocks evidently has the reproduction cost almost impossible to fab.... Or reproduce.. Or.. No one drives a C3 beyond their driveway and the ride and handling is mute point.... Or.. the shocks are SO good that they never ware out ... What say you GM?... Support your C3 customers much?
Come on Man!!

My C5 has 115,000 miles; I drive it every day. The new shocks were made by Delco/GM, they should last another 115,000 miles! Yes, GM gouged me!

You will not find an aftermarket version, because it is a PATENTED design!! Illegal to manufacture this technology, without paying GM, or licensing it from them. Ferrari licenses their use from GM. GM spent millions in engineering and prototype designs, so they're not about to allow a reverse engineered product on the market, unless they get their cut, and rightfully so.......
I just replaced all four of mine with Bilsteins - $109 each. The car rides exactly the same way it did when in Tour mode, which was the only setting I ever used. I had the magna-ride option deleted for another $60.

You used to be able to get these for under $400 a piece at discount places a little over a year ago. Then GM went after these places and no more discounts from original list price unless they OK'ed it. Then Covid hit. Don't know if they are hard to get now but they are no longer on Amazon and rock auto only have the fronts. They are $384. So that's no too bad.
I bought a set of used ones off of ebay a few years ago. Seller claimed they only had 10k miles on them. I've never put them on, even though they look like they are in good shape. I don't know what I am going to do. I never liked the idea of putting used shocks on a car.
I am about to replace mine and I am going to be coding them out. Going with some Bilsteins. Not worth the replacement cost to me.
If, and when, mine go down, I'll be doing that, too. Until then, I'm sticking with my F45. What amazes me is there's absolutely no fluid seepage at almost almost 118,000 miles.......
