I'm new here and just bought my first Vette. 2002 Z06 65000 kms. I've read alot of posts about faulty valve springs and catastrophic failure. I've decided to change springs and have peace of mind. Car was built 05/2002 I checked through oil fill with scope and the springs are yellow. Having said all that I'm looking for advice on what springs to buy. I will be changing seals and retainers. Thanks all.
Congrats and welcome. I installed the standard GM heavy duty springs in my '03 Z. It isn't a terribly hard job, and there's several Youtube videos on how to do it. I also recommend changing the plugs and wires while you're in there, as well as the valve seals.
Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the car. I hope it gives you many miles of smiles .Let us know if you have any other questions.
Don't forget to SAVE THE WAVE!!

No need to change retainers.
I agree with getting plug wires.
I'm doing the same project on my 02 Z06 right now. GM springs, new plug wires(the factory plug wires fell apart when removing them), and valve seals. Also get some new valve cover gaskets. Oh and a great time to change spark plugs.

Thanks for reply. I was told it was a good idea to change retainers same time

They are NOT wear items so why would you change them? My motor has 67k miles on it and I cleaned and inspected every retainer and they all were in perfect condition.
Only reason I would change them would be if I was going to something like a titanium retainer to reduce valve train weight.
