There are several kinds, which ones are you referring to? Got a link or a pic of them?
If you're talking about a product like "fangs", they do work. They are made of a plastic that distributes the force as well as reduce friction. On the the rare occasion I misjudge the front of my car, I'm glad I have them.
Hint:. If you have a HUD, the projected image is about where the front of the car is. You don't need to over hang parking curbs when parking. The car is short enough to still be in the space and not be over the curb.

When I had my C5s I also used a product called Fangs from Sac City Corvettes. Worked very well to keep the damage off the lower radiator supports.

....I never thought of that. I am constantly pulling too far into spots. Used to driving my Caprice wagon haha
I Installed Curb Alert from Southern Car Parts . Don't think I've hit a curb since .

I wouldn't recommend wheels as you will encounter potential scrapes from different angles than just straight on.
Again I recommend fangs because the polymer acts as somewhat of a lubricant as it slides over the object. They seem to be very durable. I'm not affiliated with them, just offering opinion based on experience.

The fangs look nice and I may try them.
However, I have the wide/large single roller setup and can say I have been VERY happy with them. Especially if you have to unexpectedly take a ride on a flat bed.... they will save your nose and prevent contact. I also until today have had the 1" lower radiator cradle as part of the A&A install so these have been very good. And I agree that you can rub ground objects from different angles - that does not preclude installing the rollers as they will roll with your forward motion while taking a lateral strike. Having been up close and very personal with them today I can say that we end up scraping a LOT more than we think we might by the look of them.

I have this style. I have hit some driveway approaches into gas stations and the like that were steep enough that I knew I was going to be in trouble but on that same token I can't hold up traffic.
Some of these hits I thought were going to break the car in half from the feel and sound in the drivers seat.
No damage and these skids seem to do their job well.
