Any recommendations on new TMPS sensors without breaking the bank.
I am thinking of finally ditching the run flats and haven't spent much time trying to decide if I should also toss the tire sensors and have someone program them out.s
RockAuto has them. Make sure you order the correct part number for the year of your car. FWIW, I have put almost 100K on non-runflats and the TPMS have alerted me several times when I got a nail in a tire, they are very handy for things like that.
I got mine from Rock Auto. I have a Z06 which didn't come with the sensors, had Chevy activate the feature. I got Schrader brand. they work perfectly. I can see not getting run flats but why would you want to defeat this feature? It might save you, just carry a small air compressor and plug kit. Also TPMS.com sells Schrader.

1998 C5 coupe, stock 2001 high polished rims.
Really good question^^^^ I just got my 2004 vert with very old (could be original) run flats. I, too, am ditching the run flats. Will the factory sensors work with non run flats? I wasn't really considering ditching the sensors but I do wonder if it's necessary or advisable to replace them. America's Tire will add them to the order for $50/wheel (Shrader brand).

The factory TPMS will work just fine with none run flats.

attention the 2004 should be much less than $50 per wheels, please check (edit : checked $47). the 1997-2000 are the most expensive and arewere $25-30 per sensors @RockAuto, just checked they are not anymore... Also, since the sensor activates only when the wheels are spinning, you may have a chance to have working sensors for another 20kmiles.
@MAC5 I think you cannot have the TPMS delete before 2001 model year. I think I read this in the forum earlier this year.

Sensors sense air pressure. They don't care if the tire is a runflat, or on a John Deere tractor, which won't fit, anyway
I agree on the sensor life. My '00 vert has 21 year old sensors in it. Must be the best batteries ever made on the planet. But they're still in there doing their thing.......
I have a 98 and run another set of C5 wheels without sensors sometimes and never get a code come up until I go on the Hwy for a couple miles. In the city no codes come up🤷🏻♂️.I just delete the code and all is good.

I would recommend keeping the tire pressure sensors - nice to have that feature available whether you have runflats or not. And they will work just fine with either type of tire.
MAC5, as beautiful as your 98 coupe is, I'd spend the coin and upgrade to the 2001-2004 sensor system.
Thanks Al, I should have looked into the upgrade before I picked up a new key fob last year. Bit the bullet and ordered the new sensors, I'll have them installed when the new tires go on.
Will have to meet up with you sometime this summer.
it is a useful safety feature, I take the position that more safety features are better than less safety features, and the technology is now required on new cars sold in the usa, so fairly common.
I also purchased the Schrader brand from rock auto, for an 03, because I recognized the brand name as trusted and long time. Because the brand is so well established , I had hoped they were the original supplier , but the square box like shape I received is very different from the somewhat Mickey Mouse ear shape seen on the OEM parts. I wish I knew which brand was lighter, I could only shape my buying decision by assuming a name brand would select an appropriate battery quality, and not just the cheapest one available at the time, to more easily sell at a lower price. in hindsight, although perfectly happy with my purchase, I might have shopped beyond rock auto for a more competitive price on the OEM part, but no crisis , because the tires will need changing before the sensor gives out.
