I'm a little embarrassed to ask this one, but are the wheels on my C5 OEM? I believe they are a steel wheel (showing some signs of rust around valve stem) and some people have referred to them as C6 replicas. They have the corvette emblem engraved in the center cap. Previous owner said he believed they were factory...I plan on putting C6 grand sports rims on sometime in the future, meanwhile I'm just curious, thanks
Correct. And to find out if they're OEM or aftermarket you'll probably need to remove one and see what markings are on the back of the spokes. Look aftermarket to me just from this pic.
I doubt strongly that they're steel. If there's rust it's the chrome that's rusting.

Chromium by itself doesn't rust. If there is rust, it has to be coming from another source. I totally agree wheels are not steel. I'm sure they're aluminum.......
I stepped out and snapped a few more pics, maybe it isn't rust, but some sort of corrosion is taking place for sure. It seemed like the C6 base wheels had an emblem that was painted in the centercap. Aftermarket??
Yep, flaking chrome, not rust but corrosion of a different type. It will continue until the wheels are stripped and refinished... or replaced.
I'll bet a dollar those are aftermarket. Probably Chinese.
I was kinda leaning toward aftermarket too, just wasn't sure. The quality isn't there, that's for certain. Hoping to get them replaced in the next year or so. Just not sure if I wanna move up a size or not.
I liked the 18/19 setup that I had, but 19" tires aren't cheap and that was starting to get annoying for being a daily driver and track toy, so I went to 18" square to save money and rotate.

Thanks, that makes sense now.
That's the only thing holding me back on the 18/19 setup, the price of tires. Any issues with active handling on the square 18 setup?
I have a square setup on my 04 Z06. While overall it's been fine, I do think it has lowered the threshold at which the active handling engages. IN other words, it activates more easily than with the stock difference in tire diameters.
