Last Year Did the Full Blown Top End Redo (Heads, Cam, Headers, Blaa, Blaa, Blaa) 463 to the wheels on dyno
Question is, what do you do on the bottom end?
I'm guessing it's next? Runs great, no problems (just jinxed myself)
Just wondering, what do you do? if anything
Probably should just work on upgrading the auto trans
Do the bottom for what? No need with what you have unless something breaks.
If you want more power N/A, you could get a stroker kit. If you want a lot more, get a SC/turbo, crank the boost, and a forged bottom end.
Thanks, it just seems weird to me to do all the work on the top and nothing on the bottom (not [like you say] that there's anything to do)
plenty of power for me right now, very happy with what I've got
was just wondering about it
thanks
LS bottom ends are pretty strong. A few years back Hot rod Magazine took a junkyard 4.7 LS, took it all apart and put it back together with ALL the original parts and went on to run 100 turbocharged dyno pulls, the last several at 1,000 HP.
It held up.
HRM made one CRUCIAL modification: ring gap was increased to 0.027 on the original rings before reassembly.
If you boost it, increase ring gap first. If a top ring gap closes because of increased heat under boost, it can pull off the top piston land and score the cylinder.
