Does it fit under your C5? I see most guys have the 5000, but I have an Escalade in the household I would use it on, too - and it's more than 5,000 pounds.
I have the 5000 and I also have a 2001 Silverado extended cab I've had on it. No issues lifting it and it stayed on pretty solidly. If you watch some youtube videos on them they seem to have them a bit under-rated for what they can lift. I feel confident with the truck on it.

I know this is slightly off topic, but here goes:
I don't know what you're prepared to pay, or if you can even fit one in your garage, but a company up here, ARESCO (Automotive Repair and Specialty Equipment Company) has 8,000lb 2 post lifts for around $1,600.00. I've had the baseplate model for 10 years, never had an issue. It may not work for you if shipping (I'm sure by truck only) expense is prohibitive. Located in Pontiac, Michigan. Phone# is (248) 766-2364. Ask for Steve. You'll need at least a 10 foot ceiling.........
I would LOVE a lift, but I rent my house. When my wife is finally able to immigrate from Australia, we do plan on finding something with a thick enough slab and tall enough ceiling to do a lift though.
Might be best to just wait until then, I suppose... Although the QJ would be handy to bring to track day for wheel swaps, too.
They look heavy as can be, not sure they'd be practical to haul to a track day.
To add to what was already mentioned, there's many two post lifts that only go about half way up, and don't need the 10' ceilings for not much more money than what these cost.
I know it shouldn't happen, but being under a car with the sides blocked makes me worry about an emergency escape not being possible in time.

Good point on the side access thing. Never really thought about that.
Always been intrigued by the Max Jax, but I think you still have to drill into the slab for those. Might look into it further.

Well, one last IMHO, lol 🤣. The 7000 seems to hold its value well, if you're buying used, and then reselling when you and the wife get your house. Maybe you should go for it, and resell at that point. They do beat the Hell outta a creeper. That said, I gave my creeper to my son, and even with a lift, they still come in handy. DOHHH!!!!!
