Just bought a 2002 C5 from my brother and transporting it to our home in Huntsville, AL. Seems to run/drive fine but needs paint since it’s really faded and can see the fiberglass through the paint in parts. Any suggestions to protect it until I can get it painted (thought about using PlastiDip or something similar)? Need new interior seat covers - is it better to buy aftermarket leather seat covers or have a local shop do it? Thanks for the ADD!
Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on your 'new to you' C5!
Lot of great members and helpful info in the C5 sections at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-1997-2004-2/. You might ask your question about the paint there. You could also ask the paint question in the paint and body section at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ette-topics-8/.
You can also ask about upholstery in the C5 general section. Several suggestions will probably come up, but one of the more popular supplier of replacement leather for C5s is a company called Ridies. They offer many different color combinations at a very reasonable price. If you have to pay an upholstery shop to install the leather it may be just as economical to have the upholstery shop take care of the interior. You just need to price it out.
Best wishes with making this C5 everything you want it to be!
Many owners do a vinyl wrap instead of paint, easily removable if you change your mind about color.
And if only the hood is bad you could just wrap it instead of the entire car keeping the cost down. There is also a set of seat covers for sale right now in the for sale section.
