Just bought my convertible C5 a month ago and love it, needs some TLC but thats haft of the fun of owning such a classic.
Question, can anyone tell me what this sensor is? There was 2 of them, driver and passenger side top of the windshield,
driver side is falling off, passenger side is missing but the wires are still there hanging out.
No such 'sensors' on my '04 Vert's windshield. Most Likely an aftermarket 'thing'. Is it a sensor or maybe a microphone to an installed aftermarket radio with BT capability.

looks like a tweeter or a buzzer for a backup camera or something of the sort, hard to tell though but it isn't stock... follow the wires and see where it goes

Nothing like that on my 2002 Vert. As said earlier, trace the wire.
Does or did the car have an aftermarket theft/security system? Could be something to detect breaking glass. It does look like a mini version of devices I have installed called 'glass breaks' that detect the sound of the glass breaking.
If it does have something I'm pretty sure it's not working with one missing or it would be "complaining" about it being gone.

That is not a factory item so the previous owner installed something on the car - perhaps some alarm component or as mentioned, some sort of audio/video addition.
Only thing up there should be the mounts for the sun visors. Both sides would have a 2 wire connector and its possible the connectors were broken off in the process of someone trying to modify something.
What is this sensor for?
