I'm out this year, but would like to try for next. I did it in 2016 and it was very nice. Much more fun if you go with a group, people tend to stay in cliques otherwise, especially if it's not a classic car. No one is unfriendly, but don't expect a bunch of hellos and being asked to join in anything.
My friend has a 87 C-10 custom he has built for things like the Hot Rod week event, so riding with him gets much more engagement than the newer cars do.
