[Z06] Wheel Hop
It would be nice if they were designed not to wheelhop from the factory.
Here is the info...
"The Power Hop algorithm is used on manual transmission Corvettes,
only." John Juriga states. "If TCS (traction control system) is turned
off, it is possible to get the tires to break loose and have axle hop,
or oscillate, during hard launches. To remedy this, the TCS module
requests a torque reduction from the ECM, even though TCS has been
turned off by the driver. For Power Hop, spark and/or fuel (reductions
are) used rather than throttle to improve response time. This request is
calibrated so wheel hop can be reduced as much as possible without
compromising vehicle performance. The TCS module requests just enough
torque reduction for just long enough to get the axle back on the ground
during these launch events."

actually, the uncontrolled wheel hop would slow you down as it would continue on until you let off of the gas......with the algo, you can keep your foot planted and let the computer get it under control...it works, I've used it on a poorly prepped track.....
BTW,
good post Tom...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I replaced the rear bushings with poly U bushings and reduced wheel hop by 90%. You can try slipping the clutch more, driving easier etc. but most of those things will cost you E.T., I prefered to attact the root cause. Drag shocks might have helped too but I didn't want to take away from the road race handling capabilities of the car.
Just my .02.
