Hey guys
I’ve tried to order new Red fuel rail covers from Rock auto Twice and both times they arrived in TWO different shades of red. Was there some kind of change in manufacturing to these? Obviously I’m going to send them back AGAIN because they don’t match, I think the best bet is a used set??
I found a pair on Marketplace local for $40 in perfect shape. Might want to try that too.....
YOU got one HELLUVA deal for $40.00! The OP will probably not be so lucky. My guess is either different dye lot's, like carpeting, or one may be genuine, and the other a knock-off, with everything looking OEM, but it's counterfeit. If possible, look for the month/day/year "clocks" that GM has molded into the plastic on many parts.......

So which one do you think is the correct shade of red? The brighter red or the darker red?
I also had the same problem you are having
so far I’ve found one used driver side that matches the new passenger side in the brighter red, unfortunately it’s probably a bit faded so it still won’t match well but we’ll see when it gets here. I’ve read that the driver side was discontinued for awhile so a new manufacturer must be making that one now and would explain the color difference but can’t verify

Just thought of something...the covers are separated by the intake so i am betting that the difference in color may not be noticed...i am sure Rock auto is aware of the color difference by now but they do not give a rats azz...

I’ll notice it and it will bug me.
There’s no way to call them to let them know so we are Sol unfortunately
Yes they finally accepted the return and sent me a shipping label that cost ME 7.00 off of my refund!
Try Marc Rose at Vettenuts. I bought a pair for an LS7 from him in March or April, and they were brand new, the correct, brighter red, and BOTH were exactly the same color. Vettenuts now has many new offerings for Corvettes, where they used to be salvage only. He has a LOT of connections in the Corvette world. He assured me they were brand new, and they even came in a box with the correct GM part# labels on it. It may have been a pair someone ordered, and never picked up. Something was a little unusual about the price being only $115.00. Buy what the heck, give him a call. He's very much in-the-know about Corvettes, at least C5s, of which he owns one. Hope this helps!

like the darker red...does it have to be "correct"?
So you meant this darker red in the mismatched colored covers...right ? but you would have to get both covers darker red or did you mean mismatched colors on the 2 covers as the ones below ?
