Default Fence Sitter

Greetings, I'm a newbie and as the title implies, I am trying to decide on a Z06. I just started looking the other day. I haven't even driven one yet. I bought a Camaro SS in 96 when they first came out. I had #42. That car was a blast to drive. The color, arrest me red. I got two tickets in no time. The car was a ticket magnet. I can only imagine what a MY Z06 or an a-me-red Z06 or any other one would be like. Tickets aside, another concern is just finding a place to enjoy the car outside a track. Metro Atlanta doesn't lend itself to automotive muscle flexing.
While I wouldn't use it as a daily driver, I would drive it alot. I am not one to look at it in the garage. When I bought the SS my friends would ask if I was going to pamper it for future value. I said heck no. I'm going to drive the wheels off it.
I see quite a few 03 Z06's for sale. I assume part of it is the economy. My question is, are they not good daily drivers? Do you have to be too careful with them? Bottoming out, scraping the front, etc.
I am going to go to a dealer tomorrow and drive one. That will speak volumes.
Then the question is, new or used. There are several 03's here with less than 500 miles on them.
Well, any words of wisdom to help me get off this fence?
Thanks for reading my rambling.

I drive mine every day. The front can drag a little on driveways etc. but not much of a problem once you are aware of what it will do. This is my 9th Corvette and I always use them as daily drivers.
Great deals on both new and used. I think with the deals and finacing on the new ones are hard to beat. Once you drive one you will be sold!

:iagree:

I used to be in a similar boat to you- I had a Cobra. The C5 and especially the Z06 will put the biggest smile on your face. :D :yesnod: Be ready to sign after you drive one, I doubt anyone could turn it down if they had the means. :seeya

I was looking for a while. It just took one test drive and out came my check book. It is hard to explain how nice they drive (until you step on it) and then it just goes fast!.

I still have a 95 Z28 that I bought new. The Camaro has evolved into a track car with coil overs, big brakes, racing seat, roll bar, racing tires etc. I am planning to do a top end package this Winter. I used the Z28 for my personal transportation for 25,000 miles before it became a track car. The Z28 is still street legal, but is not too comfortable anymore due to the track mods.

I bought an 01 Z a year and a half ago, and it is now my regular street car. It handles/corners better in stock form then my modded Camaro, and rides unbelieveably better then the Camaro does with the stiff springs. Of course it has lots more power.

I like the Z28 for the track because I'm not as worried about banging it up as I am the Z06, but if I was going to own one car for the street and occaisional track days, I'd buy a new 03 Z06.

Welcome to the Forum! One test drive is probably all you'll need to convince you... There simply is nothing quite like the Z06 for a pure adrenalin rush! '01, '02, or '03, they are just great cars, and they also make for a perfectly acceptable daily driver - just ask my wife....

(Yeah, the airdam will scrape every now and then - that's why they made it cheap and easy to replace. There are steel runners that will prevent most serious curb damage.)

Try to test drive one with a couple of thousand miles on it. They really seem to run much better after they're broken in. It's an amazing car performance wise, and more than comfortable enough for a daily driver. WARNING: Do not test drive this car unless you're serious about buying one. Once driven, failure to own one can lead to severe mental stress!

They're great cars, whether you want to drive to work in traffic, bang thru quarter-miles, or drive a road race. You really need to drive one to appreciate how well-rounded this car is.

As to being a cop-magnet ... it probably depends more on how old you are and how you drive. I've still never been stopped ... not even had a cop give me a second look.

Drive the car.

 Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new Z06. (I 'm assuming that you are getting a test drive :steering: ). I would take the best deal. You may be able to get better financing new.
