Default Vanity Mirror Replacement

Wanting to recover the sun visors. Took apart one and found the vanity mirror is "welded" in place. Hence, anyone know where to by NEW vanity mirrors? I have seen where people use screws with the original ones, but it looks wrong. Thanks in advance, George.

I recovered my sun visors with vinyl. I have an AE model and the visors are not black, so I found a good color match at a fabric shop. The hinges on both visors were broken so I left them off. I haven't missed them. Just an alternative to consider.

Can get 2 complete new visors with LED vanity mirror lights off eBay for $145 delivered. Much better quality than stock and perfect fit.

I agree that it would be easier to just buy replacement visors. Getting the old ones out can be a bitch though.

There is a YouTube video that shows the simple trick to get the visors out. I had mine replaced in 10 minutes.

Yeah, thanks. I've seen all the videos, and been involved in a few threads on the subject. You got lucky. Sometimes it's easy. In my case, it REALLY wasn't. I actually bent one of the screw drivers I was using.

I agree with MWWarlord, even after watching the video I had a really hard time getting the passenger side visor out on my 98. Tried, tried and tried. Finally, I got frustrated enough that I left. Came back later and the visor came right out, go figure. Had the visors covered in leather, they looked soooo good, then I sold the car
I also took the visors out of my black 99. Not replacing them as she is my daily driver and I can see so much better (I'm 6'4")

Thanks, I did see this listing. Question is can you peal off the air bag stickers? On our '99 the factory stickers pealed right off the fabric. They were not stitched or RF fastened on.

The hardest part about getting them reupholstered is getting the vanity mirrors off and then back on. The factory plastic welded them in place, so once you remove them there are no studs remining to reinstall them.

I have see some people use small screws through the frame but it looks very poor.

One visor was a pain to get off, broke the housing.

George
