Hi all, my base c-5 got new tires in 2009 and to look at them they appear new, however I am nervous about these runflats that are hard as hell. I want to go to non run flats and am wondering about what is the smart money going to. Any help or suggestions are appreciated
I posted this in another thread. I just recently replaced my 6 1/2 year old Michellin AS Run Flats with a new set of General G-Max RS Ultra High Performance Summer tires that I had installed just about 2 weeks ago and have driven them 450 miles so far. I am really very happy with them and glad that I decided to get them. My initial impression driving home was wow these are great tires and I feel the same way every day. They have excellent dry traction and wet traction is excellent too. I have driven in several Florida summer down pours with my new General tires and they stick like it isn't raining at all. I even nudged the throttle to see if the rears would slip and the rear of my car would come sideways like they did with the old Michelin ZP's but there is no slip at all. The steering is very responsive with these tires, it's like a different car. The steering wheel feels more firm and the road feel is improved and more planted and my confidence level in the performance of these tires couldn't be higher. These tires are much quieter and now my loud exhaust is even louder. These tires receive great reviews on Tire Rack and in this Hot Rod article: https://www.hotrod.com/articles/gene...ires-are-made/

The 99 vette I bought has several mysteries I need to figure out, the tires and rims may not be stock, and the sizes appear to be for a Z06.
19 inch Continentals on back, 18 inch Dunlops in front. Tubeless. The front tires still look great, thinking about replacing just the rear ones that look worn.
Not to hijack the thread but would like recommendations for tires too. Want to stay under $250 each though.
General GMAX-RS 285/35/ZR19 99Y is $206 plus install and tax at Walmart.unlop 245x40x18 93y
I love my Falken Azenis tires on my 2000 supercharged C5. Very affordable, impressive traction on wet and dry surfaces (it rains hard here in Florida), and long wear. I usually buy tires from either Discount Tire or Tire Rack and have them shipped here to be installed by a local shop.
Is this for general driving or some track time? Do you drive it in the cold? Those factor into your choices. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireS...SortCode=54450 I like the ExtremeContact DWS, Goodyears, or the Coopers.
