Air compressor, plug kit, cell phone and emergency road service works well. And in reality chances of having a flat are not that great in the first place.
I got rid of run flats the moment I bought the car. They're terrible.
Z06s came without run flats and so GM equipped them with an inflator kit, which is basically a small compressor and tire sealant. That's similar to what I carry normally in my car. You can pick up a very decent 12v air compressor quite cheaply and I just rotate out the tire sealant (you don't want to keep really old product in the car).
Something to keep in mind is that if you have a major side wall blowout or similar sidewall damage a run flat likely would not help anyways. You'd still be calling a flat bed.
It's advisable that you not consider a spare. Some owners run GTO -type spares. The problem with those is two fold. Your car likely still has staggered wheels, which doesn't make a spare usable. The other issue is where would you put it? You can't just lay it in the back. Get into an accident and that spare is probably coming through the passenger compartment.
Let me be the first to wish all you guy good luck. First with AAA. Than even more luck when it come to plugging and inflating the tire on the side of the road. Come to think of it, I have never heard any stories of anyone plugging a tire on the side of the road. All my years on this site
I keep an air compressor and a can of fix 'o flat in one of the trunk bins. I have yet to see an explanation of how a plug kit could actually be used, especially on a rear wheel. I don't see how it is possible to use without removing it.
