Default What's This Plug

I had to replace to front passenger side turn signal bulb today and while the hood was open I saw this plug unplugged. Any idea what it is and why or should it be unplugged?

I agree. If you do not want the hood light to go on, it is better to attach the connectors and remove the bulb from the light housing.

I agree it is for the hood light. I removed that wire entirely from my car. I kept it in case I ever decide to reinstall.

That's what I did. And in case I need the light, I stashed the bulb in the glove compartment.

So why is everyone removing the bulb? Is it a power drain problem or something? or just the people that show their cars?

For me, the light is just not needed. And because the C5 has so many electrical drain anomalies, I can eliminate one possible problem. I keep my bulb in the light housing but not connected.

It is, as every time you open the hood, the light goes on, and begins to draw power from the battery. For a daily driven car, it's not as big an issue, as the battery is charged back up on a regular basis. But for those of us who have a Corvette as a "second car", the battery isn't recharged as frequently, and the potential battery drain of the underhood lamp, combined with all of the "natural" current draws, could present a problem.

The light will go off after a few minutes. I've got mine hooked up and a 12 year old Optima Red Top and never had a problem with either one.
