I had to replace to front passenger side turn signal bulb today and while the hood was open I saw this plug unplugged. Any idea what it is and why or should it be unplugged?
For me, the light is just not needed. And because the C5 has so many electrical drain anomalies, I can eliminate one possible problem. I keep my bulb in the light housing but not connected.
So why is everyone removing the bulb? Is it a power drain problem or something? or just the people that show their cars?
It is, as every time you open the hood, the light goes on, and begins to draw power from the battery. For a daily driven car, it's not as big an issue, as the battery is charged back up on a regular basis. But for those of us who have a Corvette as a "second car", the battery isn't recharged as frequently, and the potential battery drain of the underhood lamp, combined with all of the "natural" current draws, could present a problem.

The light will go off after a few minutes. I've got mine hooked up and a 12 year old Optima Red Top and never had a problem with either one.
