I also went with black. Mine are GM licensed. They actually stick out a bit (which I really like). They are a high gloss rigid plastic that has held up really well for many years with no issues. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I bought the lettering from.

I got the cheap vinyl letters from Eckler's for mine and they fell off within a couple months. Yes I cleaned and prepped the surface very well. Some letters held on well while some of the small parts like the E and C were just flapping in the wind. I bought some rigid plastic ones to try next, but have not gotten them on yet.
Guys, thanks so much for responding to what some have called a silly post by a "need to get a life person"...at least that is what one member told me in a direct email...and i told him that he was correct...sorta but my Vette was part of my life....and i forgave him for being sorta rude...and i think responding with kindness shuts some rude people up ? Seems like it works for me...
Anyway, i hate it when some starts a thread and hardly ever responds so instead of thanking each responder by posting to their post, i have been hitting the like button to show thanks for their response.
Great pics guys...now i am really confused more than ever because i haven't seen a pic that i didn't like...lol
Anyhoo, please continue to post what letters you used if you used any at all...i cannot get enough of this since i don't have a life...seriously....even after 20 years here on the CF.....especially from noobs with C5s that just joined the forum...
And as a side note...not to hijack my own thread... i wanted to thank all the really knowledgeable members of the CF who have helped tens of thousands of us Vette lovers with advice they have given us over the years ....some who are still here and some who are not ...most of us old timers know who they are...thanks guys...!!!

Mine did the same thing..... I need to find a better quality supply.... really liked them on my car....
I had silver vinyl letters on mine for a couple of years and then put on polished stainless steel and had them for several years. When I had the car repainted last year, the letters could not be saved so it was "naked" for a few weeks. It looked so bare that I got another set of the stainless steel. Looks great against the Mag Red!
This thread was just in time as I have also been looking for rear lettering. I decided to go with the Stainless Steel ones which I think look the best....
i was browsing at different ones this morning, i think with the OP car being red, yellow lettering might look good. guess it really depends on how much he wants it to stand out
I got letters off Amazon, but dont really like the way they fit. Then i heard about Eurosport Daytona out of FL. I have not installed them yet, but the package does have a "licensed by GM" sticker on it. If it were my car, I would go with black letters.

You were very kind in your response. It sounds to me like the person who sent you that message is the one who needs to get a life. If you don't like a thread, don't read it. It's that simple. There is absolutely nothing at all wrong with this thread. I think the rear lettering looks great, and it's very reasonable to ask this question. Let us know what you decide to go with. I'd love to see a picture of how it turns out.
As some others have mentioned, I would stay away from the vinyl and go with plastic or metal as they hold up a lot better. Also, products that are GM licensed will fit well for sure.
