Default New shock questions

I am installing new Bilstein shocks and i am a bit confused on the rubber pieces at the top of the shock. One instruction say to re-use the originals and another says it should be from the bottom up, metal piece, rubber with the raised part in the bolt hole facing up, then rubber with raised part in bolt hole facing down with metal piece on top with the nut holding it together. I have installed one new front shock so far using all the new hardware and the car sits up 1/2" higher on that corner. Am i doing this right?

Sounds like you’re doing it correctly. Maybe get them all installed and drive it a bit to see if the car settles down some. I’m sure it will.

I just installed C6 z06 shocks and it sits 1/2 inch higher at least, mainly due to it being a new shock, if it doesn’t settle a bit lower I plan on lowering the stock bolts

Once you drive the car, the suspension should settle and the car will sit lower. Whether it will be as low as you want it to sit may be up for debate.

Make sure your rubber pieces are tight together. I thought mine were tight together but they were not. You suspension will make noises. I had to remove mine again and tighten them up properly. Go online and watch a few videos on how to tighten them up

I agree that you are doing this right. As others have said, the car will settle a bit after you drive it. However, it's likely that the new shocks are a bit stiffer than the old ones. As such the car will naturally ride a bit higher. If you're not happy after driving it for awhile, I would lower it on the stock bolts .
