Default Key fob issue

So a couple weeks ago I installed a K&N filter. The first step is remove the negative battery cable. The battery was disconnect 3-4 hours.
Ever since, my key fob has worked sporadically (or maybe not at all).
I thought at first i had a car battery issue, but the car always started, so I thought it was key fob battery possibly.
I removed battery and couldn't get any voltage reading.
Ordered replacement cr2450 from Amazon (I'm lazy).
Put in the new battery today, and nothing. won't open the doors or trunk.
Do I need to program/train the key fob thru the dic?

I think you will need to retrain the FOB. Its pretty easy and there are lots of you tube videos as to how. I would tell you but Im old and forget all the steps.

From my file from another Corvette Forum member:

You do not have to see a dealer to re-program the FOBS. It is very easy.

1. Turn ignition on. (Engine Off)
2. Turn radio off.
3. Press Driver In formation Center(DIC) RESET button.
4. Press OPTIONS button on DIC until display is blank.
5. Press and hold RESET button for 3 seconds.
6. Press OPTIONS button until FOB TRAINING i s displayed.
7. Press RESET button to begin programming sequence.
8. Simultaneously press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on first remote for 13 seconds. Message will
appear when remote is programmed. Repeat this step for additional remotes.
9. Turn ignition off and remove keys from ignition.
10. Test remotes.

This is exactly what I did, successfully. Regarding step 8 above, I did not realize it would take 13 seconds. After about 3 seconds, i felt like it wasn't working. But then it worked, thankfully.

One thing i've noticed since: It seems like when i'm near the car sometimes, the horn blows (like the car was locking itself) never did this before.

I agree, just retrain the FOB and you should be fine.

If you have an older C5 then you have passive keyless entry. This may be what is happening.

Yes, I have a 99. The fob has a slider for passive and I believe its off and has been since ive had it. I actually never noticed the little slider until I had this issue and replaced battery.
I haven't touched the slider because I don't know what will be different.
