Stumbling into the c5 area...

I've always hung out in the C4 side, since I've mainly dealt with them. Been working on my daughter a C3 too, but I managed to get a new ride for Daddy.
Traded a Harley Davidson edition supercharged f150 for a 98 base auto coupe.
It has a few issues...I've already ordered the lmc5 module, and it's probably going to need a battery and some other things. But, it is beautiful and just what I need.
Got it running and drove it for the first time tonight.
After the lt4 car, I really didn't expect it to move out as well as it does.. but it surprised me. I can see mods in the future , but for now this will scratch the vette itch while I finish my stock AD truck restore...then I'll throw money at the C5. My 15 year old is trying to take it away from me already. Guess I'm gonna have to get on her C3 so I can keep her away from my ride
Obligatory Pic of the new to me moneypit..

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I had to bail. Quickly. I refuse to be sucked into mod-land before it's even tagged, and I HAVE to finish the body work on my beloved '52 Pickup Restoration before I jump headfirst into the C5.
The stereo and seat covers currently in my Crutchfield and Ebay baskets should be disregarded. They're repairs not upgrades. Yeah, Mama didn't buy that either.

I'm reasonably new to the Corvette Cult myself; I bought my Pewter Bullet '01 C5 convertible in January. It had a mere 35,000 miles on the odo, and I have been busy correcting that deficiency with some SERIOUS road-trips in the last six months; I'm up to 47K and I may get to 60K by Christmas.
Mods? That depends on your tastes, and your driving experience. If you're used to high-performance cars, you can do a lot to boost the "base model" LS1, and you can SPEND a lot getting there! OTOH, my previous cars were utilitarian, up to and including my 2010 Pious Prius (still my weekday driver) -- and the base LS1 has enough power to satisfy my Walter Mitty dreams, and to get me in a world of trouble if I gun it in the wrong neighborhood. (A former owner added a performance exhaust. I say it has two sound-systems, one by Bose, the other by Borla.)
The Pewter Bullet is my first Corvette, and it may be my last -- I want to drive it, and enjoy it, and show it off, until I'm too old and demented to drive any more.
I'm still flipping back and forth on the headunit. The factory radios volume won't adjust. If it did, I'd just keep it for now. Eventually I want a double din android auto capable head unit, but the 500 ish bones from Crutchfield ain't happening right now. Thinking about just ordering the interface and buying a cheap Wally world special to do me for a few months. I'm in the middle of a shop build and am waiting on the company I've ordered it from to get off of their rear and get it delivered...so I can see if I have any money left for mods. 😆

I got in and it proved its age. Ignition switch locked up and there was no budging it. Apparently the bypass has been done because I could turn the wheels. I managed to get the switch out and when I did, tiny pins went everywhere. Never saw anything like it.. A nice ride in a rollback later, the Problem Child is back at my place and I've got $200 worth of Ignition switch and lock cylinder on order.
At least the tow truck driver complimented me on the car, saying it looked alot newer than its age.

^^ This is a fair statement. I’m ready for an Apple Car Play head unit, but find the stock radio is off most of the time, listening to my Borla S type through a Corsa X-pipe. Being a convertible, that sound is like an orchestra that never stops playing 😎
I will say that it doesn't drone as much as I would have thought and doesn't sound too bad.Soon enough it will get a tune, some longtubes, and some other goodies.
