Default Is it really a 50th

I don't own a Corvette but I am thinking of purchasing a 50th Anniversary Edition. How do I tell if it is a genuine 50th? The owner sent me a picture of the badge that said 50th Anniversary. The car is yellow. Was that a 50th color? What should I look for? Help from a knowledgeable person would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum! All 2003 Corvettes have the 50th anniversary badge on them. However, the cars referred to as "Anniversary Editions" all came in Anniversary Red with Shale interiors, and special Champaign colored rims. If it's yellow, it's not an anniversary edition, but is rather just a normal 2003 Corvette. If you like it, there is no reason not to buy it. Also, I doubt the seller is trying to be in any way dishonest. However, I would not pay the premium price usually associated with the anniversary edition for this regular 2003. Hope this helps.

IIRC -- 50th AEditions were all maroon with tan interiors that had "50th" embroidered on the headrests

The true AE version only came in one color and was only offered on the coupe and vert - the Z06 did not offer that option.

This is the way an AE looks. The rest of the colors are 50th. 03’s.

I have a black 03, and enjoy that the badging notes the fiftieth anniversary of the line, makes it a bit distinctive among the other mass produced identical product. The anniversary package is as described above, and the paint used is really something special.

Since we're posting 50th AE's, here's mine, which also has the brake upgrade, red calipers and slotted/drilled rotors.

It may be a 50th, but only the special red is a 50th anniversary edition.

Just an FYI on the Anniversary Edition cars in the Anniversary Red color, they are not rare and should not carry a premium charge. Of the total 2003 coupes and convertibles made in 2003 43+% were red anniversary cars. Yellow were 8% of production.
Total coupes and convertibles = 26834
Total coupes and convertible red anniversary editions = 11632
Total coupes and convertibles in Millennium Yellow = 2192
