This may help you - measurements from stripes I had on my '00. If I recall correctly, each stripe was 3" wide and tucked in over the edge at the top and bottom of the fender. Approximate 45* angle on the stripes.

I think it’s pretty much personal preference as there was never a C5 grand sport. I like the slightly thinner front and wider rear stripe.

Thank You Guys It does help a whole lot . Very good info i can use . My deceison is either the passenger side or the driver's side fender. Do you think if I chose the driver side , that i would be infringing on copy rights ? My car is not a GS but 50th AE, and was thinking of DS with bone color stripes. But it also looks good on the PS as well.
So again many thanks for the help, i really appreicate it

Just go for it if you want the hash marks on the car. It will look great.

I fully support your decision, but to my thinking that is pretty fancy paint for such a permanent decision. As you doubtlessly know, that paint was a one time only deal, and is famously difficult to match if you change your mind.

Or course any modification is not a popularity contest, until the next owner.

Max, I took my dimensions from a C6 and C7 GS years ago, as I’ve had fender stripes on and off for a long time. Mine were almost the same as Jack’s, but on the C6 the second stripe is wider. Very easy to cut them out from a piece of vinyl. My current stripes are further back than Jack’s but his measurement is close to the C6.
One caveat is if you go more towards the rear, watch your angle. If you pitch the upper end too far forward without positioning the lower part the second stripe might go past the fender well causing you to reposition it. I place them with the backing paper on, then use painter’s tape to decide the position.
These were on my Z, similar size to Jack’s.

Thanks Chasboy for your very important tips, some i havent thought about. If i may ask, when you took your stripes off were they vinyl ? and what did you use to clean the residue off your painted surface?

BTW the beige color with the black srtipes really pop!!

Thanks again for your help in advance

Max, you’re welcome. The stripes are vinyl. You can go to vettestripes.com for inspiration, but I’m a wrap vinyl ‘hobbyist’ so I make my own. In fact I once made them from scrap a local sign shop gave to me. The one’s on the Z are matte vinyl.
Thanks for the complement on the current stripes on my pewter coupe. I’m sure I will change them again eventually.
I clean the residue area first with mineral spirits first then alcohol so the adhesive sticks well.
Here’s a few pix of the first fender stripes I tried on the pewter.
