Default C5 Fog light panel surround

Sorry for the confusing title, but after an extensive search all I could find was 'left steering column panel' and 'left speedo panel'.

Anyway, the little clip receiver inside the dash panel--the piece the fog light/hatch release fits into--broke and of course now the switch just hangs there by the wires. I guess I could just jerry rig it, but I would rather fix it right. My Vette is an 02 vert base model if that matters. The problem is, I cannot find the OEM part name or number for this panel and can find NO ONE who sells just the panel. I see it contained in kits, but those are $175 and I only need the one panel. So....

1. Anyone know where I can get just this panel?

2. Anyone have any experience removing this panel...just in case I am forced to effect my own fix--which might be possible with some epoxy and a little luck.

HELP!

To be sure, I am talking about the panel those wires are poking out of. I don't want to break it if I have to yank it out, and hope I can just replace it.

I have checked Vettenuts, Corvette mods, etc etc--no luck at all.

Would greatly appreciate any assistance on this!

Mine broke as well, it's a very common problem. I used this repair kit and it works great.

If you want to really repair it correctly, I think the $175.00 kit would be your best bet if Vettenuts and Cultrag can't help you. Honestly in this particular case I would probably just hold the switch in with some 3M double sided tape. Once done, nobody would be able to tell, and you would still be able to easily remove the switch if you needed. If you did decide to replace the entire panel, it wouldn't be bad to get the other panels in the kit as well. That way you will have them if/when you need them.

I stand corrected...this looks like an awesome option.

One other option, and I’m not sure you contacted them, is aescorvetteparts, a forum used parts vendor. But that repair kit mentioned above looks like a good alternative.

If you ever decide to buy the assembly or want to more easily search for pieces, it is called the KNEE BOLSTER.

I was very careful removing the knee bolster during my SWPS replacement. It shattered into oblivion when I removed the screw holding it to the dash. I had some plastic dust and a long piece of plastic left over. I tried to epoxy it back together at first and it wasn't working for me. After about a month of epoxy trial and error, I was glad that the repair kit existed. It's expensive, but well worth the money spent. I'm glad that there is a repair for such a low production car. My last hope was fiberglass sheets, epoxy resin and some cardboard to make a repair.
