My battery tender seemed to get really warm and now it also seems to not want to charge. My battery is 3 years old and my charger is 5 years old...Time for new ones? Car has had very few miles put on it in the last 3 years. Battery has been on the tender about 98% of the time. Just seemed strange.
Chargers will typically get hot when bulk charging. It shouldn't get that warm when it's float charging though. Did you try the charger on another battery to see if it's still underperforming? It could be your battery took a dump.
I've had a battery go bad in under a year... even when on a trickle charge. I've also had a battery last 12 years on a trickle charger.
I'd test the current battery and also try the charger on another battery. One of the two is likley bad, but not both. Depends on how lucky you are I guess.
@Johnny Hardcore, Tried the charger on another battery...seems to be working. Tried jumping the bad battery, dead on arrival. Will take the battery down in the morning and have it tested.

Thanks for the response.
Glad you got it sorted out. I've had great luck with Ever start batteries from Wally World of all places.
I keep 4 cars and a motorcycle on a trickle. Every time I've had issues it's been the battery itself. Not the float charger. Which I guess could be a chicken or egg scenario, but really depends on the battery itself.
These cars are hard on batteries. I haven't had one last more than 2.5-3 years before needing to replace. But i don't keep it on a tender. (daily driver)
I switched from a 8 yr old Ctek to a Genius 5. I don't think the tender was bad, but batteries in general the last 5 or 6 years have declined in quality in my opinion.

I once burned up a float charger because my BCM took a dump, and drained the battery overnight. Took the charger down with it........
