Default Keep old tires?

Just put new tires on the 2004 Coupe. Replaced new-looking original ('04) fronts and barely worn ('11) rears. Any reason I should keep these runflats? Even though they look new, I can't imagine anyone would buy these due to their age and I don't have very much available storage space.

I certainly wouldn't keep them.

No, unless want to make something out of them, use on the side of a dock, etc.

There's always a bucks down guy around that needs tires... Donate them with love to a broke student or a layed-off guy who needs tires!... You don't need em because you're retired now and role with Michelin!

Here is what happens at 70 MPH with old set of tires, not pretty sight, good thing it was rear tire and not front.

It had lot of thread, but over 6 years old.

Wouldnt want to be responsible for an old tire coming apart on someone & lots of shops wont mount them if they are past a certain date. Your call

I'd offer them for free on a local classifieds or freecycle board. Maybe someone can hustle them and make a few bucks. No way I would use them on my car again.

IMHO, only good if you show your car in events touting original everything then tires with OME wheels are a must if you are hoping for a trophy.

Epic fail. You are supposed to burn them to the cords and then get them replaced.

I would have taken them after taking them to a parking lot and certainly making them more worn. Get and extra set of rims and mount then and burn em up?

Just find a shop that will recycle the tires and get them out of your way. I would not want to drive on tires that are that old.

Summer 2004 bought 2 new front tires for my 1999 C5 on a road trip in Texas they were Cooper non run flat, in 2009 bought chrome wagon wheels with new-ish Michelin zero pressure tires off Craigslist from a guy that put C5 Z06 wheels on his base C5.

Discount tire said I should save the fronts as they were like new.

2011 was moving and listed on Craigslist for $130.00 with the original receipt with miles on car when installed, and written miles when removed.

Forgot about ad, guy asked over phone if I would take $100.00, said yes.

I do remember telling him they were 7 years old, and had heard about older tires not being safe, he asked if car was parked in garage or outside, parked inside, he looked at them real close with a powerful flash light for a long time inside and outside each tire, he saw no problems and handed me the $100.00.

So I wonder if inspecting inside and out with good flashlight tells anything?

Guy said he would wear tread off quickly running them as car was a track car and he was tired of buying new tires, these were rated for the high speed.
