Just purchased my first Vette, a 2004 Coupe, and decided to be safe (and sensible) and replace the original run flat oldies (that felt like a tractor on bumps) with some new tires.
Decided on Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus and had them mounted yesterday. Put the wheels back on this morning and took her out for a spin.
All I can say is... Ooh la la, it's a whole new world So quiet, so comfortable, so grippy, so smooth, had me giggling all morning. Now she rides like the dream car I've been thinking about all these years.
Anyways, I'm just so tickled that I had to share with someone that knows this feeling
I did the same. I must admit I went with economical (cheap) tires. Not sure that price totally dictates quality...as I will not be doing burnouts or driving over 75 and these tires will age out well before they wear out .I mounted Federal SS-595 on my 2001 ditching the Goodyear run flats. Like you I was blown away at the difference. I just carry a battery powered air pump and plug kit.

This was the first thing I changed on my '98 when I bought it in 2017. I also bought the Continentals and never looked back. What a dramatic change from the Goodyear RF tires.
I have Firehawk runflats on "FE3" Sport Suspension and yeah, the ride is sporty alright. I know that I ran over a cricket yesterday.
I'll be getting new tires in spring, and still trying to figure out if I should give up the run flat feature.
I've liked Continentals on previous vehicles, but those Extreme Contacts aren't run flat, right?
James, that's good to hear ! I'm going to be using the same Conti's in my wheel/tire package that I'm waiting for the rear wheels to come off back-order, hopefully by months end

This is my first connection with a vehicle of this caliber and I am no expert but I LOVE the transformation these tires have provided and hope you have a similar experience

Not runflats, but do you really need them? I keep a small pump and a tire repair kit in the back just in case. You have the TMPS to help keep track of the pressure.
I dumped the Goodyear run flats for Hankook v12's. What a difference. Did a lot of spinning and active traction control before the change. New tires have much better traction

Hold up, you don't drive your C5 over 75????
Pretty sure you risk engine damage if you don't open her up to 150 on a regular basis
I have the Continentals and while I agree on dry pavement performance, if the rain gets more than a little heavy, I find the traction control can get very active. Interesting that it works, and how it works, but more than just a little un-nerving.
I got a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTZ 2 to replace my run-flats. I'm waiting on new TPMS from RockAuto to be delivered and will have my local tire shop to mount them all. Can't wait!

I think you made an appropriate choice, tire building technology is not top secret stuff and the manufacturing methods are well known throughout the world. I plan on buying un-needed high line Goodyears to replace the Kumho I now run, a decision based upon pleasure, not practicality. I plan to go touring in my old sled, so a matching tire, easy to obtain in some out of the way place, might have advantages. Another decision factor was that Michelin does not run a blimp, and Goodyear does.
