OK, I figured out why the wheels are painted and not polished. After only 300 miles they were black with brake dust....ugh. Took me longer to clean the wheels and oh joy the calipers than it did the whole rest of the car. I have always had good luck with Eagle One A2Z wheel cleaner on my other painted wheels on other cars. Anyone use this or any other type of spray on wheel cleaner? I usually do it at the DIY spray wash with the pressure hose and it does an awesome job. They I go home and hand wash the rest of the car.
Here is my take on this....Use whatever you use to clean your car with....would you clean your car with a wheel cleaner.....Nothing better and safer than car wash(Zaino)
Actually this is also my take. The biggest single thing that dictates this in my opinion, is the fact that the wheels have a clear coat over the paint JUST like your body paint! If you want a more aggressive cleaner, I personally would use a higher concentration of the car wash in a spray bottle and spray it on the wheels and rinse off. I use Zaino car wash by the way, but your fav poison is just as applicable.
So far, as a four month 03 Z06 owner, I have only been able to get my wheels clean with lots of work. The wheels are painted, although they have to take a beating with all the sand and crap this time of year.
I would luv an easy way to clean the wheels - they add about 15 minutes to a 30 minute wash.
My wife made a sleeve out of an old towel, just slip it over a paint stirring stick and use it to wash the inside of the wheels. Coating the inside and outside of the wheels with Zaino first helps a lot.
Strongly agree with RICHY on this one!! A2Z does a GREAT job on removing the brake dust. Just simply spray on when the wheels are COLD.....and the brake dust dissolves in front of your eyes......Wait 30 seconds and wash off!! End of task....... :yesnod:

Merry Christmas to ALL!!!!

Hehehe.. I know all about the benefits of A2Z, it is my favorite cleaner and have been using it for years with much success on my other cars. Just wondering what others had experienced with using it on their Zs.
Welp, today I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home (had to pick up an unexpected last minute gift) as if anyone really wants to be in a shopping center parking lot on Christmas Eve
But anyway, I got a bottle of A2Z for the Z and it worked just as wonderfully as it has in the past on all my other cars. No staining, no discoloring and it got down in the crevasses in the calipers and between the letters. As a tip, I almost always do this at the .75 DIY spray wash around the corner. They have some of the cleanest bays and highest pressure hoses around AND its only .75 for 5 minutes :D
Wheels looking brand new again...oh wait they are...but you get the point
