Default Removing windshield/ repairing hud

Haven't read much yet on repairing my hud (Won't raise up or down), but I was wondering if I'm having my windshield replaced can I access my hud for repair without removing dash or does the dash need to come out .Thanks for the help

I would assume the connectors under the dash would have to be addressed at some point. Also worth noting is the HUD windshield is specific to the hud option , not the base windshield. Although some have posted the base windshield works well, if performance were the same, there would be no reason to have the expense of another part.

Most commonly the plastic mirror support breaks, preventing the pivoting adjustment of the display.

You can have the pad off in 30 minutes or so. Pretty easy really.

mstromquist knows what he's talking about. He has a video on youtube that walks you right through the process. I watched it to remove my dash for a blend door repair.

Holy cow! I didn't realize it's been 7 years since I made that video. Hope it helps.

Yep, you will have to remove the dash pad to get to the HUD.

I know your question has been already answered, but I will add a comment just to encourage you. There is a lot of information on the forum and a number of videos on youtube regarding this repair. I used a hud repair kit from vettepros (ebay ~$27) to repair the broken tab that the reflector pivots on. If you take your time, you can do the hud fix without much trouble, and it will be a very rewarding repair. I was scared to death to undertake repairing mine, and now I am so glad I did. Go for it.
