Default Thank you!

I want to to thank everyone who is serving, or who has ever served in the military. Our freedom exists because of your bravery and sacrifice. Know that each and every one of you is loved and deeply appreciated. There are no words to adequately thank you all.

I'm thinking about my dad today.

WWII veteran
Was in the old Fox Theatre in Detroit watching a movie on 12/7/41, when suddenly the lights came on and the announcement was made about Pearl Harbor.

What did he do? Walked around the corner and enlisted in the Army.

He was in the 1st wave of D-Day. (Remember the beginning of the movie, Saving Private Ryan)
He fought in the Battle of the Bulge

As a kid, I knew he was in the Army, but when talk around the table turned to the war, my dad would quietly just leave the room.

He was a man's man, humble and down to earth, and I miss him terribly, even 30 years after his passing.

Thank you to all of you that served from someone that did not for various reasons. Now that I am nearing 50 it's something I still think about a lot from time to time.

Special thanks go out to my old man who served two tours in Vietnam and then came home and did 30 years in DOD.

Special thanks to my father in law who is my favorite Army Ranger.

Special thanks go out to all of my brother in laws that served and came home busted all to hell.

and most importantly I thank my Brother in Law that didn't make it home....................

We lost Sargent Phillip Anderson in Iraq in 2008 to one of the largest IEDs they'd seen over there. Still think about him damn near daily.

There's so many more to thank I'd be typing all day.

Thanks all of you.

Thanks to all who served and still do. My dad was a Korean War veteran and the finest human being I have ever known. We lost him Memorial Day weekend this year. Then my mom passed 56 days later and my older sister died in January. Effectively lost half my family this year (pictured below).

I'm very sorry for your losses. Sometimes losses happen one after the other. My father lost his brother, wife (my mom), and mother in the span of 6 months, back in 1981. He was never quite the same again. So you're not alone......
