Thanks for all of the input on the cowl induction hood last winter. I got this one with J and D Corvette- it is exactly what I was looking for, and they were great to work with.

It's going to be a good summer, if I can afford to keep gas in it...

Looks excellent. Corvette is pretty decent on gas. Drive it and enjoy that hood. My A4 used to get 27-28 on the highway. On par with my 6 cylinder daily driver. Now with my new 373 gears and 3200 converter, I calculated 19-20 around town on 1 tank of gas. I still need to calculate some more runs. I haven’t calculated any highway mileage yet.

But again. Hood looks awesome.

Beast-

Thanks for the response. You are exactly right. the C5 gets about 10 MPG better than the 4WD Silverado, so the extra for premium is a bit of a wash in the grand scheme of things.

If only I could be a little more passive on the two-lanes with the Mustangs, I might get the mileage up a bit. (Or maybe that is less passive.) Actually had a VIN K 65 Mustang a lifetime ago, damn that was a fun car. Got to admit that this C5 is more fun to drive. At the end of the day they are all sweet rides. Back then it was carb tuning and aluminum M/T valve covers. Now days it is cowl induction hoods and cool air induction. Same stuff, different details I guess.

Thanks for the comments in the looks of the hood. It might not be for everyone, but I am pretty stoked about it.

Thanks Stingroo. The balance is always performance, but it has to look cool too!

Looks nice! It seems to fit pretty well. You could drop a blower in it like I did. It gets pretty much the same gas mileage as stock when you're "passive", but you'll leave those Mustangs in the dust. Of course, then you'll want to upgrade your tail lights (maybe some nice halos) since that's all they're gonna see!

Warlord-

That is an awesome looking ride! And, a supercharger under the new hood does have some attraction...

My kids are wanting me to stop checking out the forum. They are watching their inheritance getting chipped away on faster things and shiny things.

Thanks for the response!

I know it's an old post.....but i had a question about the JD hood. Can you raise the hood with no interference to the wipers?

Since the hood hinges at the front on a C5, interference should be non-existent with the hood up. My cowl hood cleared the wipers, with room to spare.

It's all good. West Coast Corvettes sells a cowl hood, similar to that one.

I'm trying to figure out how to get a Caravaggio hood, from Florida. Hard to find a shipper that will handle the job.
