I have to replace my window regulator in my 01, and will have to disconnect my battery for the process. My question is, since i don't have the radio lock code. What do I do? Also, what other problems might show up by disconnecting the battery?
Thanks,
JW
I’ve had the battery disconnected many times on my 01 and never had the radio locked !!…you may have a little lopey idle until the PCM does its idle relearn…no big deal !!

I've had my battery disconnected MANY times with no issue.

Read the owners manual it has all the information on this function. If you don't have it here a quick synopsis. If the radio has the theft lock enabled the theft lock light will flash on the radio when the key is out. If it doesn't flash then you are ok to remove power. If theft lock is set when you remove battery power you will have to unlock the radio with the secret code after power has been restored. You need the code to remove the theft lock function.

Exactly. There used to be process to defeat a lock code if you didn't know it but the support for that is no longer available.
I've had to reset my radio a few times. I used this guide that I found on another forum:
Procedure:
01. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC) 02. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds 03. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. Don’t take forever, fifteen seconds max before the next step. 04. Press the AM/FM button 05. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one. 06. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are form STEP 05 07. Call 1 800 537 5140 08. Press 1 then # (pound). You’ll hear “Invalid Code, try again” 09. Press 620529 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by * (star) [IF THE "620529" doesn't work, try 206053, 202107, 106010 or 202108.] 10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then * (star) 11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice 12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC) 13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11 14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to SEC
Your radio is now “un-locked” and usable. The Theft-Deterrent feature is STILL active! If you want to disable it, use the instruction on page 3-27 in your Y2K Owner’s manual. Use the code from STEP 11 instead of your personal code.
Thanks for the responses. Still curious why some radios lock and some don't.

Probably because at some point Corvette owners realized that nobody wanted to steal a C5 radio and the owners defeated the lock function when they got tired of having to input the code when their battery died while the car wasn't being driven. So they just remove the code.

Mine is currently LOC but . . . I've been so content just listening to and enjoying the engine/exhaust sound while I bomb around on back country roads that I haven't even thought about unlocking it

But if you wanted it to work, how would you do it?
