I have a C5. I lowered the car all the way around with Eibach lowering bolts. The rear is fine the way it sits. But i am looking for some help on the front. I am currently running 255/30/19 tire and like the way that tire looks on the rim. But i need to lower the front another 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Does anyone have any advise on what else i can do to go just a little lower, without having to go with bags or coilovers?
I did let it settle and it has probably been about 3 months and put about 500 miles on it since. Ya, i don't think it will go down anymore, i really wish it did settle the 1/2 that i would like to have. Thank you for the reply
If you can get to the bottom of the front adjusters they have a stack of rubber glued to them. I took my spring completely out and cut the rubber off. It made a big difference. They also sell bolts that have the plastic spacer on them. If you cut the rubber off, leave a little on the bolt so it won't chew into the spring. I've since gone to coilovers and am happy with them so far.
Even if you took the front bolt out and lowered the rear fully, the front will always be higher, not a good look.
Coilovers are the answer.
with the rear lowered on stock bolts when you hit dips in the road you’ll experience a trampoline effect in the rear suspension. The rear leaf is under little tension fully lowered and when compressed it discharges past zero and bounces until the force dissipates.
Although lowering a c5 is free, to be done properly costs $1200-$3400.
Thank you for the info. I might have to try removing the rubber. When you cut the rubber off of the springs. What kind of ride did you get? currently my ride in actually pretty good. That is why i would like to get that 1/2 inch or so. And i am trying not to spend the money for those coilovers, because i only need that 1/2 to 3/4 more. But i know the coilovers would be the best way, without a question.
MrMce... not to change the subject, but what kind of taillight are in your profile photo?
They are the standard unmodified led taillights a ton of c5 owners have, except I modified just my inner ones by myself to be halo only style on driving light mode. Anyone buying sets will get all 4 in the same style (either unmodified like my outers, or all modified like my inners). They all light up fully on braking.
