Let me first start off with my second intro ever on these forums. I say second because 9 years ago I was in the market for my first Corvette. I was 21 years old and was set on getting a C4 Corvette. I came here in 2012 seeking some really elementary advice as shown below...

I know with the right tires it would run fine, but what about salt? I've heard that's a big problem. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.
Fast forward 9 years and here I am with my second thread ever, finally achieving the dream of having a Corvette. This time a C5.
Second intro! My name is Kyle and I am 30 years old. I live in the Buffalo New York area. Ever since I played the video game Gran Turismo 2, I was set on a Corvette as my dream car. I was 9 at the time, so getting a Corvette was a long ways away. 7 years to be exact! I'll get one at 16 years old! Wrong. Hey I'll get one at 21! Wrong. Seems that 30 was my sweet spot.

I did a lot of searching locally for one and had very little luck. One that I wanted sold the day before I found it on auto trader. Another one in Michigan which I deemed too far away. I remembered this awesome forum so I did some digging. Turns out, a seller by the name of silverja had attempted to sell his, had it all set, but the buyer backed out. So after a bit of talking, I scooped it up. I'd like to thank John for being so understanding and helping me through the process. I have only had 1 other car in my life, so buying another was no a strong suit of mine.
I went over to John's yesterday after about a 4 hour drive. It was such an awesome day, no snow, no salt on the roads. It was perfect timing seeing as it snowed a ton today. John was incredible accomodating and made me feel like a friend he has known for years. Such a class act and I'm so glad I was able to buy my first from a member of these forums. When he first showed me the car, I was in disbelief. As much as I have wanted one since I was a kid, I honestly had never even sat in one. I am 6'4" and have done a lot of research about the legroom and headroom, so I wasn't too worried. It is honestly more comfortable than my daily driver!
Anyways, all went well and I was able to drive it home! Man what a drive. As it is going to be sitting in the garage for some time while the snow falls, I am so grateful that I was able to get a 4+ hour drive out of it. Had a smile on my face the whole time.
She is a 2002 Corvette w/Targa. Sorry for the lack of pics. I was only able to snap a few that day, but I will add a couple from the sale thread.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I know it was a lot.

Kyle - welcome to both Corvette ownership and the forum. Great that you were able to find your C5 here on the forum and met a nice forum member in the process. Best of luck with the car.
Thanks for sharing your story and welcome to the forum!
The first ride home is always the greatest feeling : )
I almost didn't get to do it. Took awhile to find the correct PA to NY laws so I was going to tow it home. The tow idea fell apart when my friends truck broke down 3 days before the pick up day. I'm glad that plan fell apart because it made me check a bit more to find a temp plate solution.
Welcome back to the forums. We're around the same age - I got mine at 29. They are a blast to drive and mess with. Sucks about the winter. I drive mine daily here in Florida.
Congrats on your new C5, and welcome back to the forum! I'm glad that you got to drive it before putting it away for the winter. It looks to be in good shape. I'm so glad that your dream of Corvette ownership finally came true. I know how you feel. I've always wanted a Vette. I finally got mine when I was 33. I can't believe that was 8 years ago. I still get a thrill just looking at it. Let us know if you have any questions, and we'll do our best to help. Enjoy the many miles of smiles to come.
Don't forget to SAVE THE WAVE!!
Congrats on your vette and thanks for sharing that story, we all have a story for when we first bought our first vette haha. Enjoy the car and enjoy the forum, lots of information here.
