Came across a set of C5 magnesium wheels still in the box, never used with lug nuts for $1k. I see many FS for $850 or less; two questions...fair price? and second, what's the typical charge to have the valve stem (sending units for tire pressure) installed?
Thanks
That's a really good deal for those wheels...If you like the wheels, jump on it. I seem to remember they were a $2k option when ordering new C5s.
Regarding the pressure sensors, it depends on the year of your car (97-00 vs 01-04), but you should be able to buy a new set of four Schrader for under $200 and your tire shop will just bolt them in.

That is a very good price for new magnesium wheels. As stated, the cost of the TPS will depend on the year of the car. They are easy to install when doing the tire mounting on the wheels and programming just requires a strong magnet and follow the programming procedure.
Sure. But sensors are so cheap now you're better off getting new ones and not paying the extra labor for them to do so, in my opinion. What year is your car?
I agree that's a good deal. Unless you've replaced them before, your TPMS are due to go bad soon anyway. This is the perfect opportunity to swap them out without paying any extra for labor.

Funny story. My sensors are original. I verified the date codes on them of 1997.
I put them back in when I mounted my last set of tires as a fun little science project to see how long they will go.
Since 1999 mine work as designed... Why shouldn't they other than being GM?... Oh now I understand!
Your GM hate is tiring....
They are battery powered, and batteries die. And like most other things on the car, they were probably made by a 3rd party supplier - likely Schrader like most other TPMS.
I had a TPMS sensor die recently in my 2009 F-150 truck. Discount tire replaced all of them for $170 out the door. I told the technician that my 20 yr old Corvette has original sensors still working great. I don't think he believed me.

You're right Stingroo, I'll refrain from now on... No more bashing GM on these forums. Sorry
I agree. Guess it's some good luck, as I'm on my second 427 engine, thru no fault of my own. Loonnggg story!!! But, I'd rather have TPMS problems any day.....
