Default Corvette Museum Damaged again

I am hearing the Corvette Museum in Bowling green took heavy damage last night. Friend of mine said it looked like the roof was gone and possibly on fire

My guts have been twisted for about 12 hours now as I watched the tornadoes move thru Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky all night last night.
My car is still at Auto Armor at the NCM Motorsports Park, and from what I’ve seen and heard so far, the Motorsports park sustained the most damage between them, NCM, and BGA.
I just got word from Rudy that it is safe and did not get any damage. Thank God!

Here are some pics that were posted elsewhere. When I first saw them, I was pretty concerned.

As thankful as I am, I am heartbroken for so many that lost their family members, homes, and even cities. The devastation from last nights tornadoes is unimaginable! Please keep the families of all of these people in the southeast in your thoughts and prayers as we are right on the heels of Christmas.

My main concern is the staff and workers there - hope they are all OK. But it sure seems like the Museum and/or plant has had its share of bad luck in recent years. Hope they can get the plant up and running again without too much delay in building cars.

From NCM facebook page:

Museum CLOSED on Saturday, December 11th
The Museum was spared from significant damage. but the facility is still without power. Like much of the Corvette neighborhood roads are still in a hazardous condition.
The NCM Motorsports Park has sustained significant damage to the property and all events, including Twinkle at the Track, are canceled until further notice.
We would like to thank our emergency responders for ensuring Bowling Green’s safety during last nights historic storms and encourage those in our area to only travel when safe to do so.

If you know people there find out how they're doing. Some areas were absolutely devastated.
  1. The National Corvette Museum is okay.
  2. The Corvette Plant does have damage. Someone drove by the plant and posted a video that shows what appears to be a relatively small fire and some minor structural damage.

Updates our coming in about the Corvette Plant. Thankfully no reports people have been seriously hurt

Multiple sources reported a fire on the roof of the Corvette Assembly Plant. We reached out to the Corvette plant’s Rachel Bagshaw who provided us with an official statement. Here is the latest as of 5:00 pm ET on Dec. 11th in which they confirm the plant will be shut down for at least the week of Dec 13:

We can confirm that the fire that took place as a result of the tornado activity at Bowling Green Assembly plant early Saturday morning (December 11) has caused damage to the facility, including the roof and an employee entrance.

Maintaining a safe work environment for plant employees is our top priority. Therefore, we are cancelling production on first and second shift the week of December 13 as our trained teams work to get tooling, equipment, and the facility space up to standard.

Customers remain at the center of everything we do. The high quality standards that our customers have come to expect of their vehicles continues to be our focus as we manage this event.

At this time, we have no updates or damage reports on any completed vehicles stored behind the Assembly Plant.

Update: Memo from UAW Local 2164 to membership. Doubts that production will resume Monday:

Those are all sold customers cars that were waiting for PDI and NCM delivery!

All of those cars were in and around the back building on the right side of this aerial.
My car is in the front left building on the left end, thank God!

My heart breaks for everyone involed. Was at the NCM track over labor day and was right where all those delivery cars were. Its just crazy to see the damage.

Also, the hardest hit area of Mayfield, KY I use to travel there often for work. It is truly heartbreaking to see that downtown totally destroyed. I used to go to a restaurant in downtown Mayfield when I went to see my business partner but now it is gone, the Presbyterian Church is leveled as well. Just terrible what happened.

It's heartbreaking! There is never a good time for something like this to happen. But I can't think of a worse time than near Christmas. I can't imagine where all the survivors must be staying, or how they'll spend Christmas, and beyond.....Something like this certainly puts a noisy lifter, or a bad door blend actuator in its proper prospective......

Our area here in Wa State suffered badly from storm/river flooding which we were able to directly help with clothing and food. Not being able to be there in KY I've reached out to a couple friends who gave a some direction for helping those in need.
The larger organizations are good sources but don't be afraid to reach out to some local KY nonprofit groups as well. Looks like these people have families who need a little help
So if you are feeling the spirit of Xmas and giving try to lend a hand.
Here's a start, Im sure there's plenty more to choose from
