I use Hagerty for the toys, Geico for the DD. Stated value for my camaro (10k) and vette (25k). 720$ ish / yr for both cars. My daily Grand Cherokee. is around a grand from Geico. No limits on usage (some collector ins limits usage - errands, shopping, etc), mileage I wanna say was like 3k or 5k / yr ( i never even go close) and both have to be garaged.
Thanks to this thread I called NCM and got a quote for my 01 Vert with 3k max per year, they are almost $300 less per year than "The Lizzard". I will be making the change. And yes their customer service is outstanding. Dave
I was on the phone with my insurance agent and had him quote a C5 that I'm considering purchasing. It was quoted using 100/300/100 on liability coverage, and using 7500 miles per year, with reasonable deductibles. It came out to $1,000 every 6 months, using round numbers. What the heck? I'm 51 and I have 2 other vehicles insured with them as well as a spotless driving record. Is it really that expensive to insure these cars?
I live in Texas have Insurance with Safeco on my 2000 C5 and I have it set up to pay a value of 15k for a Total with all the other coverage 284.00 Per Year !!!!!!!!!!
Update! Went with NCM with 3k max per year and a declared value of 22.5k. Was slightly less than Hagerty's quote and very pleased with the experience, a real pleaseure to deal with. Highly recommend! Dave
Wow this is crazy. The C5's were designed to be "easily repaired", that was the entire design goal. They are cheap to repair, even convertibles. C6's are not so cheap, maybe they were confused about the year

Wow that is really low. I bet you live in a rural part of Texas. I've been told your zip code is one of the biggest factors in insurance premiums. I remember one of these insurance threads from a few years ago, someone from rural SC was paying less for full coverage than I paid for liability only, and they had a DUI on their record ! Unreal.
Every state will be different. I am in Fl. right on the water and collector ins. is out of the question, already checked. I pay $968 a year I have Travelers and no milage restrictions

I don't know who your insurance provider is but, I can tell you that going with the big corporations in insurance that deal with volume like State Farm and others, with specialty cars like Corvette, you're not going to get the best rates. $1000 for 6 months is financial rape for a C5 with your age, and a clean record....Just for comparison through Hagerty, I pay roughly $1700.00 for a full year for an Aston Martin, a C5 and a C4, I'm 54 and also have a lily white driving record. Look to insurance providers that specialize in exotic collectible cars. The rates will be far better. In the event that an accident/damage does occur they'll have an adjuster that knows what it takes to fix your vehicle properly and not try to look for the cheapest fix at some shady body shop. For your everyday run of the mill grocery getters and daily drivers, absolutely stay with one of the big insurance providers, that's the type of vehicles they market on in competition to give you the best coverage and rates. Just my .02...Good luck!!
Looking to those specialized in exotic collectible cars have a lot of restrictions. Mileage, where they are kept, how they are kept. You cannot enjoy your ride under all those restrictions, at least I could not. I know I will never find another Ins. Co. like I had on my C3 1969, 4 speed, convertible 350/350, I owned it from 1984 to 2000, The only restriction I had on it I could not drive it to work, considered my everyday driver. I ask my Ins. agent what if we want to go on vacation for a week with it and she said have fun and enjoy. My premium was $100 a year. I really do not remember the coverage I had but in 1984 I was 44 years old, no accidents, no DUI, no speeding. I also helped another guy get ins for his C3 1969, 4 speed 427 and because of his age he had to pay $4550 a year but he said that in 4 years he would be down with me in premiums, and no I do not remember the name of the ins. co. but I think it was out of Virginia or W, Virginia.....
Update: I went with Safeco, at $361.16 per year for 100/300/100, $1K deductible for comp and collision, and $15K value. I quit shopping after that. So now the CE is covered!
Mine is 62$ a month with geico but i tried NCM and they stated that if it wasn't kept in a garage they couldn't cover it. Im looking for something that would be cheaper then 62$ a month.
42 years old, Country Mutual Insurance, IL resident, Corvette is my second car. I pay about 480/year for a 250/500/250.
IMO 100/300/100 is not enough insurance these days.
My quotes from All State have always been high. My insurance has gone up the past 3 years, like every thing else. Corvette is still the cheapest on my policy, I have no restrictions in how many miles I can drive it. 2012 fusion sport and 2006 Honda Accord are also on my policy. I’ve had a 250/500/250 policy for about 15 years. I’m covered if something catastrophic happens. Hopefully it never does.
