C5: BSM's- people would remove them, "Big But" so many C5 owners blacked out the lower portion of the rear facia to give it a more slender appearance. Complaints about the pop-up headlights with a move toward C5R style fixed low rise headlights. Complaints about the indented taillights and many installed the flush taillight kit. Polished wheel option that many swapped out for Chrome or Black aftermarket wheels.
C6: GM addressed the big butt complaint with a lower black panel that many proceeded to paint the body color. GM addressed complaints about the pop-up headlights with a move toward C5R/C6R style fixed headlights, then people complained about losing the pop-ups. Blacked out front grill so many installed a variety of chrome and stainless front grill inserts. Chrome wheel option that many switched out for Black or Grey.
C7: Front grill was addressed by changing the undesirable blacked out front grill with a chrome/polished look which people immediately starting bashing and calling "Braces" and many would cover it in CF tape, paint black or swap it out for a Z06 blacked out front grill. Chrome Stingray emblems that people opted to have blacked out. Chrome wheel option that no one wanted and so many opted for Black or Grey wheels.
C8: GM offered blacked out Stingray badges to accommodate the chrome haters but now people opt to have the emblems chromed. No chrome wheel option offered since people wanted Black, but I now see many new owners immediately switching their brand-new wheels for chrome aftermarket wheels.
These are just a few and I know that I missed many, but my point is that it seems there is always something that people will complain about even when changed. No matter what is offered based on the trend, rest assured people will go toward what is not offered and start a new trend every time. I spend my time driving and maintaining my car not changing for the sake of change or to be different. I do make mods for myself such as exhaust sound, tires and suspension tweaks and occasionally change wheels for forged or a different size or style for my own satisfaction but appreciate others style and taste preferences. Some others such as Tiger Shark facias, TS hoods and MCM hoods are nice enhancements to the C5 shape in my opinion.
I hardly even notice whether a C5 has or doesn't have BSM's. It's more of an individual's preference to me and I really have no preference. It looks better than many of the modifications that people make to their Corvettes in my opinion but it's their car.
My 2 cents.

Congrats on the new addition though, seriously. I'm hoping to be in the same situation someday.

Hmm, you should remove the bsm from one of them so you can tell them apart

Sorry but i have to respectfully disagree...Take the BSMs of off both Vettes...they look like
crapola...

I agree agree wholeheartedly and would not have them on my own car.

I plan to have a second Vette in my garage in the future as well.
