I bought a used glass targa for my ‘99, it did not fit correctly. I first had to lower the front mounts as far as they would go. I also had to adjust the rear. Now the top fits in place visually, but it is a pain in the @ss to release and close. Especially the rear.
Is there some logic to redoing the adjustments, so it fits tight, and not a pain to take off and remount? I was thinking about starting over. Take the top off and completely loosening the two front, and one rear. Try to figure out how this sucker wants to sit correctly and tighten.
The back one you can adjust in 2 places. Take the rear mount cover off the top and there's 2 bolts that you can loosen. There's 2 screws and 2 metal spring clips that push into holes. Those plastic clip mounts are kind of easy to break when you pry on the cover so be careful of those. That should get you some wiggle room once you loosen the bolts. It's not a lot but it will help when you adjust the hook part too. I've never had to mess with the front ones yet so I can't help with those.
