Default Rear Bumper Lower Facia Paint?

So when I saw a post about the lower facia on the rear bumper cover being painted recently I've been thinking about it again. I've often thought about this for my car as well but I've always let it go as just a thought because I didn't think any color would look good or even show up on my purple car. My car will be at the body shop again for a couple weeks so I thought I'd ask you all what you're thoughts are with it. If I do decide on something then what color do you think would look good? I always kind of thought that the cyber grey from the C6 might look good? Or maybe the carbon flash? Should I leave it alone and body color purple or maybe paint it a contrasting color? Open to any thoughts you all have.

I used black plastidip to paint my lower fascia almost 8 years ago because I wanted to see how it looked before committing to getting it professionally painted.

it’s been like that for 8 years so at this point I think the plastidip is permanent

Not 8 years, but same experience here. The plastidip is incredibly durable.

I think black would stand out even on a purple color. You can wrap also in CF if you have any other CF on your car. (side skirts etc.)

Another vote for plastidip. I was a skeptic so I just sprayed a front license plate filler plate with plastidip and glossifier, figured eating road debris would be a good test. Still looks great after 1500 miles.

How about this? I used the original paint on the lower and went black otherwise. Baldwin/Motion ish.

^^^^Your car had me thinking the motion type stripe too.^^^^ I don't have any other stripe on my car so that probably won't work for me. Looks very cool though. Thanks for all the ideas. I'll do more thinking, I have a few days to think it over. Paint is permanent and plasti-dip isn't so that's another thing to think about.

You just spent a ton of money repainting the car! I would go ahead and keep it grape.
By the way, how are the front insert/s and spoiler/s coming along?

I've always liked the look so I had my lower rear fascia and my tonneau cover + waterfall painted GM Carbon Flash Metallic.

I love the carbon flash color too. I am going to drop my car off at the body shop today and I'll have a talk with them. I'm about 70-30 on keeping it all purple for now. The reason I'm dropping the car off AGAIN is for my option 3 spoiler installation. I will update my Grape Ape thread when I have anything to report. Should know either today or later this week if option 3 is going to work out. I have my fingers crossed that it will.

You might be able to find a vinyl that matches carbon flash to try after you have it painted all purple. If you don't like it, take it off and you're purple again. Check this link. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...lash-wrap.html

Thanks for the thread, that's another good idea too. As long as they did a great job with the paint prep I could remove it without peeling paint with it. 😄 That's a concern of mine too.

If you were to paint the lower portion of the rear fascia, I would think a silver or lighter gray would look pretty good with the purple.

What if you would find a corvette owner with a spiral grey or black car, set the grape ape and the other in same position, take pictures with same settings and then photoshop...
IMHO grape ape is good the way it is. You could also place a mat PPF in the area...just to change the light reflection.

Okay, thanks for all the comments. I've decided painting at this time isn't an option because I'm not sure I'll like it. It will stay plain purple and if I decide to try it I'll use vinyl or the plasti-dip stuff.

Mark, I think that is a good decision. Any word on your spoiler?

Not yet, they're suppose to start on it today. I'll be dropping by Friday and check on it. Hoping they'll let me know today if this 3rd option is going to work or not.
