LS1 Squeaking
Hey all,
My buddy’s Trans Am is chirping as the belt goes round. The belt itself seems fine. The squeaking didn’t stop when applying grease to it.
The squeak sounds like it’s coming from passenger side of the engine. I’m guessing tensioner pulley?
70k miles on the car. I’m wondering if there’s a common pulley that goes out first on the LS1.

There is absolutely no way anyone can help you with some minor diagnostics. Belt squeals are difficult to diagnose and it can be almost 12-15 different things.
You have to start trying to narrow it down. I would recommend first taking off the AC belt and see if the squeal is still there. If so, then take off serpentine belt and see if it goes away.
i wouldn’t add “grease” to the belts. You want to get yourself a squirt bottle of water and spray each belt or pulley and see if the noise changes.
9 pulleys, 2 belts…..gotta try and narrow it down.
