Default ZO6 for everyday driver???

Hi, I havent bought a vette yet, but I am wondering if a Z06 is a good vette to use as a evryday driver (it will be my only car.), or would you think it would be better to go with a coupe for every day driving?

Thanks

Sure, that are plenty of members here that use their Z06 as a everyday driver. Hell I even use my Viper as a everyday driver :D

well - I'll give you my thoughts here since you asked in the other thread re: the XR1 also. all things being equal - i.e. stock, the coupe is more sedate, quieter, and it a tad more comfortable - the shift effort is a little less, and it doesn't have quite that "race car" feel. my coupe is lightly modded, and the exhaust especially (XR1) makes it seem like I am doing 1000 all the time, so the comparison isn't the best.

I don't think there is any problem driving a Z06 every day. It is a wonderful car, and rides well, etc. especially for what it is capable of. The supercar tires besides being much, much better than the runflats are quieter too. If you get an '02+ - you also get HUD, which is indispensable IMO. '01 Z06s don't have it. You also can't take out the top, or have a 12 disc changer. These are minimal additional comforts, and are definitely worth the trade up in performance. :seeya

Yup, I drive mine to and from work, and anywhere else I need to go, every day. I probably put 150-200 miles on it per week.

Mine is a daily driver as well. I wouldn't have it any other way. Too much to drive to leave it sitting in a garage somwehere. RIde is not too stiff for everday use but, that is a personal preference. Go with the Z; you won't be disappointed.

:steering: every day to and from work, 72 miles round trip. I can't wait to go to work and I can't wait to go home. I absolutely love driving this car and learn more and more every time I drive it. It is plenty comfortable for me, but then again I love the feel of a stiff, tight sports car. My wife's car ('02 vert) has more comfortable seats, has a more complaint suspension, and with my airbox w/K&N filter, is very fast. But for me, nothing beats the feeling of my Z!

I drive mine to/from work 1k miles per month rain or shine. My view is I would rather enjoy this car today here and now, rather than baby it, and saving the car to be passed on to some collector 30 years in the future who will pay a classic car dealer an astronomical profit.

She's all mine and will stay that way after I retire. Unless its stolen or totaled I will keep it until I can't drive it no more.

By the way interesiting to see how many Florida daily drivers there are. I think its the smoother roads and lack of numerous potholes that keep us going. Can't imagine there is too much pleasure on northern roads with frost heave, pavement breaks and other nasties.

Glad I moved to FL years ago. If we just did'nt have those love bugs.

You lucky Florida SOB's (except for the bugs, gators, hurricaines and tornados). I am in the same boat, considering a Z for daily driving. We don't get too much snow and it would seem a waste of money to let it sit in a garage. It's going to depreciate anyway so you might as well get your money's worth.

Also, I have heard that a Z rides better in some ways because the supercar tires have softer sidewalls than the run flats for obvious reasons. Many coupes come with the magnetic selective suspension which I have heard gives a strange feel to the car.

Of course I do have beater truck that I can drive on nasty days...
