You can use a lug nut remover extractor socket. You can find Lug Nut Socket Extractor sets at auto part stores, Harbor Freight, Sears online, Northern Tools, Walmart or Amazon..
Same car, same problem. Didn't know until I needed tires. Installer had the right tool to remove the locks. When while he mounted the tires I walked to AutoZone to purchase four lug nuts and plastic caps.
Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your C5! I think others have covered your options. As you can see, the locks are totally useless. There are some aftermarket options that are a bit better (but not by much). If someone really wants your wheels, locks won't stop them. Post up some pics of your car. We'd love to see it.
Don't forget to SAVE THE WAVE!

The OP may want to look in the trunk area. There's a small indentation on the drivers side, between the large, middle compartment, and the smaller compartment. It's on the top of the dividing 'wall' of the 2 compartments. It could be there. I had 2 of my locks break off so the key wouldn't work. Whatta mess!!! I'd never run wheel locks again.......
