Just picked up this 01 z06 and trying to figure out what this noise is… I know it’s kinda hard to hear but is that’s little squeak noise kinda. Don’t think it’s coming from pulleys or anything, could this be an exhaust leak? What do y’all think? Seems to get a little more quiet when car gets warmed up
Can't hear a thing over the exhaust......for me anyway.
Does its get faster with more throttle or stay the same? I'm guessing yes and that it is belt related. They are very hard to find sometimes since it happens while the car is static and decreases as it warms up.....gotta be a belt.
I had a very reputable Corvette mechanic use some specialized type of silicone on the belt......can't remember the name.....anyway...it worked.
Hmmm.....are you sure you linked the right video? LOL .....If it is belts, you will definitely hear it as you walk around the the car and it'll be up front.
Any squeak from the rear at idle can only be something moving....and exhaust related such as a pipe rubbing on something or a rubber mount squeaking on the metal part.
Yeah.....still no squeak I can hear. If you still think it's near the rear of the car, find someone with a lift.....get it in the air.....let it idle and then take about a four foot piece of garden hose, hold one end to your ear and move the other end around until you hear it. Old school but it works.
