I change my oil every spring before driving season because I feel like it's sitting there all winter and condensation can happen.
I flush my brake fluid every couple of years or when it gets dark. Been doing this for over 30 years in my toys.
Do you think Jay Leno changes the oil in every one of his 370 cars every year?
I’ll bet he does if it has been run. First for the price of an oil change why would you not follow the manufacturers recommendation. If you do decide to not change it make sure the engine was brought up to operating temp for at least 10 minutes just before storing to “boil” off any accumulated water in your oil. When an engine first starts up it turns some of the gas into water (if you don’t believe this check your exhaust pipe after running a minute or two). Water in your oil assists in the buildup of acids. If those acids sit on your crank for the winter, rust is the result and wear will begin when your crank up the engine again.
I do annual changes on all my cars regardless of miles, Daily Drivers included, but I can assure you I drive my cars more than 400 miles @year I send samples off to Blackstone. I have never had a sample come back saying I needed a shorter change interval. I run either Royal Purple, Amsoil or Mobil1 depending on the car. I once did a 2 year interval in my old hot rod with Royal Purple and it came back good and they said it still had plenty of the additives left, it could have went longer. But that’s up to you. I would say if it was started occasionally and brought up to temp it’s likely good still.
