Default Engine Mounts / Hinson

I tossed the mounts on the engine while it's out of the car and see that the factory nuts begin to deform the thread once the outside end makes contact with that thread. So I'm not clinching them up.

Were the oem nuts somehow staked?

I figure I'll just bring the mounts with me to the store and find some new grade 10 replacement nuts. Thought I'd check though.

I am about to remove my engine in my 2000, let me see if mine are staked.

They arent staked. Ut the are those oblong holed safety type locking nuts. Or at least what I have been told. The thread pitch on your new mounts may have a slightly different thread pitch.

Interesting. With mine the nuts go fully on, and then just the final edge begins to catch and feels like it would be enough to deform the thread if I applied force.

Yeah I reckon that is what helps it stay tight. Look at the nut, mine had just a slight oblong look. At first I thought they were bad so I started comparing and calling. Even the cradle bolts seem the same. Supposedly it helps them stay tight 🤷🏻‍♂️
